First local baby of 2020 born at JFK Memorial Hospital

NEW YEARS BABY

At least one local family rang in 2020 with a New Year's baby!

The first local baby of 2020, and the new decade, was delivered early this morning at JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio.

"Little Ana Fernanda Silva Negrete was born at 2:04 a.m., weighing in at 6 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 20 inches long," writes Todd Burke, California Communications Director for Tenet Healthcare.

The mother Ana Karen Negrete and her baby are doing well, according to Burke.

The mom, dad, and baby are Coachella residents. Congratulations to the Negrete family!

The hospitals of the Desert Care Network, Hi-Desert Medical Center, Desert Regional Medical Center and JFK Memorial Hospital offer the only licensed mother and baby services in the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin.

According to Burke, the nursing departments in their hospitals enjoy a friendly competition each year to see which hospital will have the honor of delivering the first baby of the year in our area. This is the second year in a row JFK has had this honor.
