Coachella Valley Model Railroad Club celebrates 30 years at the Riverside County Fairgrounds

Coachella Valley Model Railroad Club

Coachella Valley Model Railroad Club is celebrating 30 years at the Riverside County Fairgrounds.

Over the years, these train displays have been a crowd favorite at the fair, but many people don’t realize that they’re a permanent display at the fairgrounds all year long.

“Kids, they love trains, they love Thomas and I also was a Thomas fan and here I am now a member of the Coachella Valley Model Railroaders,” George Mendoza told News Channel 3.

President of the Coachella Valley Model Railroad Club, Alex Gregg told us there are 22 scale miles of train tracks and up to 13 trains can run at the same time.

Gregg helps make the displays like the trees, small towns and miniature people. He said they collect these pieces through train shows and they're also adding onto the sets all the time.

You can check out these trains and sets now during the fair or during their next open house in March. You can also schedule a private visit as well.
