Clearing out as we welcome November!

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – I hope last night's rain didn't ruin too much of your Halloween fun! As October comes to a close and we start November, the weather is due to undergo some changes... all in the form of warmer & drier conditions ahead!

Only some sporadic light showers have popped up on the Doppler radar as we crossed into the afternoon. The cloud cover has stayed overhead, but the bulk of the moisture is well off to the east. As of 2:45 p.m., those storms are making their way through New Mexico and Arizona, leaving behind a patchwork of Flash Flood and Areal Flood Warnings.

In the last 24 hours, Palm Springs saw just over a tenth (0.14") of rain. Idyllwild had nearly an inch (0.99") – as we expected, most of the flood risk stayed well east of the valley.

Throughout this evening, rain chances will continue to taper off as the moisture exits.

By tomorrow, expect much clearer skies as we warm up and dry out. Temperatures jump back into the upper 70s/low 80s across the deserts. Brew yourself a hot coffee to start the morning, though – it'll be a chilly start!

The week ahead looks fantastic. We'll be much milder with highs sitting in the 80s! That's just below or near seasonal for this time of year. I have no complaints with this forecast as we kick off November!
