Man’s remains found after Desert Hot Springs dumpster fire extinguished

A man's remains were found in Desert Hot Springs Monday night after emergency responders extinguished a dumpster fire, according to Desert Hot Springs Assistant City Manager/Public Information Officer Doria Wilms.

At 11:01 p.m., a patrolling officer witnessed smoke coming from the 14200 block of Palm Drive. The officer responded to the location and found a dumpster on fire and contact CAL FIRE.

CAL FIRE crews responded and put out the blaze a short time later.

The remains of a man were found after the fire was put out. The initial investigation did not reveal signs of foul play.

The incident is considered a suspicious death, according to Wilms.
