Coachella Valley prepares for President Trump’s arrival

DONALD TRUMP CALIFORNIA PALM TREES

President Trump is slated to visit the Coachella Valley Wednesday. He'll be here for a fundraiser in Rancho Mirage.

Billionaire and Oracle CEO Larry Ellison will host a golf fundraiser at Porcupine Creek for the president's reelection campaign.

Trump will touch down at Palm Springs Airport, where temporary flight restrictions will be in place from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

“There’s a lot of agencies involved and a lot of planning that goes into an event like this," Palm Springs Police Sergeant Mike Casavan said.

Local law enforcement can't say much, but they do say they are prepared for the big arrival.

“This is a well-planned event, and we’re doing our best to minimize the impact on the public," Sgt. Casavan said.

President Trump's 3-day trip to the West Coast kicked off in Los Angeles, and included a meeting in Beverly Hills for the 2028 Olympic Games briefing.

In a statement released today, Rancho Mirage Mayor Iris Smotrich said in part:

"We are recently visited with a rally this last November by presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders and this past weekend, former President Barack Obama was spotted visiting one of our historic country clubs. The gathering continues, as our community and first responders are busy preparing for President Donald Trump's visit. We are proud that the historic tradition continues and look forward to future visits by political leaders."

On Monday 2 C17 planes flew into Palm Springs Airport ahead of The President's arrival.

Although there is no official word on road closures, people can expect delays at the airport, Kirk Douglas Way and the area around Porcupine Creek including Highway 111, and other short term closures as the presidential motorcade travels back and forth.

The exclusive event will cost attendees between $100 thousand and $250 thousand dollars. The perks include a round table discussion, photo-ops, and golf outing for 2.
