First Alert Weather Alert: Tracking rain, thunderstorms and snow
A First Alert Weather Alert is in place as we track active weather making its way through Southern California! Rain overnight continues in areas around the Valley, with some embedded thunderstorms and snow in the higher elevations of the San Jacinto and San Bernardino Mountains.
A Flood Watch took effect for the Coachella Valley at 6 PM Thursday and will last through Friday night, expiring at 10 p.m. for the valley floor, and surrounding areas will remain in a Flood Watch until midnight.
A Winter Weather Advisory continues into the early morning hours of tomorrow as snow falls above 7,500 feet.
Flooding was a concern as rainfall estimates depicted anywhere from 0.5" to 1.5" around the desert. While some communities only recorded a quarter of an inch, others exceeded one inch leading to flooded roads and closures.
The area of low pressure will track into the Four Corners area by late tonight, slowly pulling precipitation out of the region for the weekend.
Skies will clear through Saturday morning, with high temperatures near 70° persisting through the Christmas holiday.
