Surveillance video captures break in at La Quinta restaurant; Latest in series of burglaries at other businesses in area

Surveillance video captured a break in at the Sabatinos Pizza Pasta and Wings Tuesday morning. It was just one of what appeared to be several similar break ins of business around the area of Highway 111 and Dune Palms Road.

The break in at the Sabatinos near Highway 111 and Dune Palms Road at the around 4:30 a.m.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Office told News Channel 3 that deputies arrived to find broken glass. The investigation is ongoing.

The owner of the restaurant says that the suspect used a rock to smash through their front window.

"Came in and ransack the place, went through the restaurant, went through our cash drawers and ripped our safe off the cabinet and took a backpack of one of our employees and filled it all up and took off out the same window," said Kevin Devinberry, owner of Sabatinos.

Derryberry added, "I did hear nothing bundt cakes was hit recently if not yesterday. And I had just sent a text to my family saying hey, you know we get we need to get on alert because there's stuff going on. And then we got it the next day."

The Sheriff's Office confirmed a second business was broken into Monday at around 4:17 a.m. Our cameras did confirm smashed windows at the "Nothing Bundt Cakes" on the 46000 block of Washington Street.

We also saw smashed windows at several other businesses in that same shopping center.

As of Tuesday afternoon, deputies say that they have not made an arrest in the break-ins.
