Explosives investigation conducted in Cathedral City

Emergency crews conducted an explosives investigation in Cathedral City on Thursday.

According to CCFD, a homeowner called into the department to report that he had 2 military explosives and wanted to turn them in. Fire crews responded then waited bomb squad personnel from the Twentynine Palms Ordnance team and RSO to arrive.

By the early afternoon, the explosive devices were safely removed from the residence.

No roads are closed and no evacuations are in effect at this time.

The incident was reported around 10:25 at a residence on Ventura Drive north of Vista Chino.

According CCFD, the homeowner followed advised procedure by calling in the explosive hazards.
