Fire restrictions lifted at Joshua Tree National Park

KESQ

Officials with Joshua Tree National Park announced over the weekend that seasonal fire restrictions were lifted, effective immediately.

The move meant visitors were allowed to have campfires in the park’s nine campgrounds in the designated fire pits.

Park officials asked visitors to protect Joshua tree forests and to follow these rules:

  • have a shovel on hand
  • adult supervision
  • don't leave your campfire unattended
  • no fireworks
  • no paper flame-lit lanterns
  • no campfires during fire weather watches and red flag warnings.

Campfires were not allowed outside of the 500 designated drive-up campsites.
