Original Story follows:

Authorities say a thief allegedly stole a doorbell camera from the Republican headquarters in La Quinta at around 10:00 p.m. Monday night.

Joy Miedecke, the president of the East Alley Republican women says the headquarters put a doorbell camera on their front doors, to make sure they are able to answer questions people may have no matter the hour.

When the doorbell rings, Miedecke gets an alert on her phone. She was able to watch the thief on her phone from home Monday night.

The man walked up to the camera, pulled a few wires, turned around and came back to steal the whole security system off of the door.

Miendecke has since turned the footage over to police and says they will be installing a new doorbell camera immediately.
