High school football: PD defeats LQ in Flag Game to kickoff DEL play
What a week in local high school football, highlighted by the annual Flag Game between La Quinta and Palm Desert.
Didn't see this coming. That's the beauty of this rivalry, I guess. Palm Desert takes the Flag back with a 30-14 win over La Quinta. It's the Aztecs first win under head coach Rudy Forti. Wow.

The Blackhawks-Aztecs battle wasn't the only rivalry game this week.
The RM-PS Ramon Road rivalry and Xavier Prep-Shadow Hills showdown were also on the slate to start Desert Empire League action.
It's a big week of ball with the start of DEL and the schedule-makers came out swinging with rivalry games right away, none bigger than the Flag Game.
