LA Dodgers win the 2024 World Series after beating NY Yankees in Game 5

MLB

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the 2024 World Series champions!

The Dodgers locked down the title after a dramatic Game 5 on the road against the New York Yankees.

Freddie Freeman was named World Series MVP. He was a man on a mission all five games, with four home runs, six hits, and a record-tying 12 RBIs.

The Dodgers will finally get their long-awaited championship parade, scheduled for Friday morning.

It was not looking good for the Dodgers early in the game, as the Yankees led 5-0, thanks in part to star Aaron Judge breaking out of his slump.

But the Dodgers bats woke up in the 5th inning, tying the game 5-5. The eventual game-tying rally really started thanks in part to a major error at first base with the bases loaded.

The Yankees retook the lead in the 6th inning, which they held on to until the 8th inning when the Dodgers scored two runs to make it 7-6.

Walker Buehler came on in the 9th inning to close it out, getting a strikeout to seal the dead and secure the title.

It’s the Dodgers' second championship in less than five years.

We’ll have reactions to the big win coming up at 10 and 11 p.m. on News Channel 3.
