Ringing in the New Year with Rain
Happy New Year from the Coachella Valley! Widespread, mostly light showers are falling across Southern California as a low pressure system pushes increasing moisture from the coast into the lower deserts, with additional showers expected late tonight into Thursday morning.
Temperatures will stay cooler than normal thanks to thick cloud cover, and most desert locations can expect around a quarter to three-quarters of an inch of rain. Showers may linger into New Year’s Eve night and could still be falling as we ring in the new year.
Scattered showers remain possible through mainly the first half of Thursday before gradually tapering off by Thursday evening, with drier and slightly warmer conditions arriving toward the end of the week.
