Aya, 8, and Larissa, 9, are students who participate in the “Save the Children” literacy program at their school. The two students were chosen to attend a celebration for “International Day of the Girl” in Los Angeles.
“The coolest thing about being a girl is we can try to save the world for other girls and we can they’ll be inspired to save more girls for their education and it’ll keep going on and on like a ripple until everybody in this world gets to be educated,” Larissa said.
Larissa and Aya enjoyed a day full of activities in Beverly Hills and Hollywood alongside members of the organization’s celebrity cabinet like actor Cobie Smulders and Save the Children ambassadors, actor Dakota Fanning, and designer Rachel Zoe.
he theme of the day’s celebration was #SheCanBe to highlight the importance of giving girls a strong start in life to provide them with the opportunities to be whatever they want to be. Aya says hopes to grow up and be a singer or a teacher at an after-school center. Larissa says she hopes to be a police officer or a doctor when she grows up.
