Man arrested for hate crime at Palm Springs Black History Parade
A Thousand Palms man was arrested on Saturday during the Palm Spring Black History parade on suspicion of committing a hate crime, indecent exposure, assault, and causing a disturbance.
On Feb 23, PSPD officers assigned to the Palm Springs Black History Parade responded to a call of a disturbance near the intersection of Belardo Road and West Alejo Road.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with victims, who said a man, identified as 25-year-old John Langley of Thousand Palms, had been “yelling racial slurs at them as he walked towards them making a stabbing motion with an object in his hand,” according to a PSPD news release.
Langley reportedly then entered into a ‘brief struggle’ with the victims and exposed his buttocks to them before running away from the scene. Officers were able to locate the suspect a short time later in the immediate area.
