Parolee Accused of Holding Up Palm Springs Man Behind Bars
A 24-year-old parolee suspected of trying to rob a man at gunpoint in Palm Springs was behind bars today, police reported.
John Bruno of Cathedral City was arrested just before 8 p.m. Thursday, according to Sgt. John Cabrera of the Palm Springs Police Department.
The attempted robbery was reported at 6:45 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of Tamarisk Lane, Cabrera said.
Bruno allegedly assaulted the man and tried to rob him, the sergeant said.
He fled on foot, but responding officers spotted him a short time later, and took him into custody following a brief foot pursuit, according to Cabrera.
Bruno was on parole for a 2006 burglary, according to court records.
He is being held without bail at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
