Palm Springs Tramway Benefits From Snow Fall In Local Mountains
Over the weekend the storm that passed through the valley brought the first real snow of the year to the San Jacinto Mountains. And that’s good news at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.
Monday tram cars were packed with people who wanted to play in the fresh snow.
The tramway’s busiest period of the year is between Christmas and New year’s when it can play host to anywhere from 3 to 4 thousand people a day. Those kind of numbers are usually a good sign for other valley businesses as well.
“Anytime we can get more people into the desert, they’re not just gonna stop at the tram,” said Lena Zimmerschied, a spokesperson for the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. “I think they’re gonna stop downtown to have lunch or they’re gonna go to the Living Desert or they’re gonna stay overnight at a hotel. So I think all in all it helps the entire economy of the valley.”
One of the big draws of the tram, it’s convenient. Visitors can get to the snow without having to put chains on their tires.
