Missing Yucca Valley boy found safe

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said a boy who was reported missing in Yucca Valley on Wednesday has been found.

Jodi Miller with the sheriff’s department said Edward Lockhart returned home Thursday afternoon and he is safe. There was no further information explaining where he was overnight.

The sheriff’s department began searching for him with a helicopter Wednesday evening after he didn’t return home from La Contenta Middle School.

Miller said Edward didn’t get on the bus that he usually takes after school, and some of his friends said he talked about going to a friend’s house.

Lockhart’s brother said he wasn’t able to find Edward at the school and the friend he was supposed to be with said he hadn’t seen him either.

Regardless of where he was, he is now home with his family and is safe.
