Sunday’s 4.1 quake felt from Salton Sea to Palm Springs

A magnitude 4.1 earthquake hit west of the Salton Sea in Borrego Springs at 6:03 a.m. Sunday, according to the US Geological Survey.

USGS described the shaker as “light,” but it was felt throughout the Coachella Valley. Viewers reported feeling the shaking from Palm Springs to North Shore.

“The while hospital shook,” viewer Nikkola Eto said, feeling the quake from the labor wing of Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Viewer Leticia Gonzalez Cordero said on Facebook, “We live in Salton City and I heard like a pop or crack, but didn’t feel it. My husband did.”

This is the second minor shaker in three days; a 3.8 hit the Valley on Friday, many noting it’s the same day the Hollywood drama “San Andreas” – about a quake on the San Andreas fault line in Southern California – hit theaters.
