Former collegiate football player and Cathedral City local, Brent Rausch, was arrested for domestic violence Monday night, according to Palm Springs Police.

The former Desert Chiefs quarterback was arrested just before 11:00 p.m by Palm Springs Police after they received a report of domestic violence at an apartment in the 2800 block of Avery Drive.

According to a news release by the Palm Springs Police Department, officers were investigating a female victim who reported that she was injured by Rausch, her domestic cohabitant, during an altercation within the apartment. Rausch was present in the apartment at the time police arrived and was cooperative during the investigation.

Rausch is being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility for a felony of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, commonly referred to as domestic violence. Bail is set at $50,000.

Palm Springs Police say the female victim did not request or require medical attention. Rausch is due in court on August 20th at the Indio Larson Justice Center.

Rausch, 28, graduated Desert Chapel High School in 2006, playing baseball, basketball, and football. He went on to play collegiate football at College of the Desert and the University of Hawaii. After college, Rausch played for the local semi-pro team, the Desert Chiefs.
