Coachella gang member pleads guilty to attempted murder

A 25-year-old Coachella gang member accused of shooting his girlfriend twice in three weeks, has pleaded guilty to attempted murder.

Lawrence Moreno, also known as “Little Chubs,” was arrested in August at a home in Coachella.

Police said Moreno shot his 20-year-old girlfriend outside her home at the Casa Las Valles condos.

She was hit by two bullets and another man was shot once in the shoulder.

Indio police said the shooting happened after a shooting a month earlier, when Moreno shot the same 20-year-old woman in the leg.

Moreno was on active parole during that crime.

At the time of both shootings, he was wearing a GPS ankle bracelet that police said he cut off both times.

Moreno’s guilty plea comes with sentence enhancements for using a firearm and causing great bodily injury.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced on April 15.
