PSPD looks for burglary victims after man arrested with stolen items

The Palm Springs Police Department is hoping to identify victims who were burglarized in recent months after arresting a man with a large amount of stolen property on Tuesday afternoon.

According to court records, 30-year-old Austin Michael Oglesby is being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on felony burglary charges.

Officers were serving a search warrant in the 12000 block of Inaja Road in Desert Hot Springs looking for stolen property that was taken during at least one home burglary in Palm Springs during March, according to authorities.

Detectives discovered stolen property at the residence that they believe may have been taken over the past several months, but they don’t know exactly where the thefts occurred. They are now trying to contact victims.

Oglesby was identified as the suspect from the March burglary. Officers said he was arrested in the 2800 block of Sandia Road in Palm Springs at a family member’s home, at the same time the search warrant was being served in Desert Hot Springs.

Oglesby is being held on $150,000 bail for two counts of felony residential burglary and two counts of felony possession of stolen property. He’s due in court at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on April 7, court records show.

If you feel you may have been burglarized by the suspect, or have information to help with the investigation, call Detective Mike Casavan with the PSPD Burglary Unit at 760-323-8129.
