Former DA hired by Palm Springs after raid on City Hall

10 days after the FBI and other agencies raided Palm Springs City Hall, city officials hired the law firm of former Riverside County DA Rod Pacheco to offer them legal advice.

KESQ and CBS Local 2 obtained a copy of an engagement letter from the City of Palm Springs dated September 11th, 2015.

In the letter, it states the city has retained the law firm Theodora Oringher to provide guidance and advice regarding the FBI raid on City Hall last year, Pacheco was named lead attorney to assist the city.

Read full contract and invoices

The letter says Pacheco’s hourly rate is usually $850 dollars an hour, but the firm agreed to provide a substantial rate adjustment discount charging $425 per hour for his legal services. We have obtained copies of invoices and payments the city has made.. That total as of February 29th, 2016 was just over $9,000 dollars.

The letter also states the firm was not hired to protect the interests of individuals, but just offer advice to the client (City of Palm Springs). As for the investigation, it still is under review by law enforcement.
