A hiker died on a trail in Idyllwild Thursday despite efforts to resuscitate him, a fire department spokeswoman said. Fire on train stops rail traffic in Indio

The engine compartment of a locomotive caught fire in Indio Thursday, but no one was injured, a county fire department spokeswoman said.
