Parolee Taken Into Custody After 9 Hour Standoff
A 9-hour standoff is over, and a parolee is in custody, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies. This brings an end to a day where 20 homes were evacuated, as a precaution.
Deputies responded at 10am to a call reporting a man had barricaded himself inside a home on Sundown Lane in Coachella, today, with someone else he held hostage inside.
When they got to the scene, they tried to establish contact with the person inside with no luck.
Deputies evacuated those nearby homes as a safety measure, not knowing if the suspect inside was armed or not. Still, that didn’t keep some people from hanging around outside the yellow crime scene tape to get a glimpse of what was happening.
During the 7 o’clock hour, Riverside County deputies made their move, apprehending 32-year-old parolee Edward Ysiano inside.
According to Riverside County records, Ysiano was charged with credit card theft, burglary, and resisting a police officer in 2003 and 2004. He was also charged with battery on a member of emergency personnel in 1996.
