Searchers Comb Joshua Tree National Park For Missing Hiker

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department says they’re part of the search for a 65-year-old hiker, missing for 5 days in Joshua Tree National Park.

Sheriff spokesperson Herlinda Valenzuela says William Ewasko was reported missing by family members on Friday after he went for a hike the day before, and didn’t come back or call as he promised to. His car was later discovered in the Juniper Flats area of Joshua Tree National Park.

Crews have searched since Saturday morning with no luck, according to Valenzuela.

Riverside County Sheriff’s search teams are being assisted by park rangers and the Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit.
