Winning SuperLotto Ticket Sold In Riverside

A Riverside merchant said today he will pay for his children’s education with the bonus he gets for selling a $16 million California SuperLotto Plus ticket.

A stub bearing all five matching numbers and the Mega number was picked in Wednesday night’s drawing, and had been sold at the Rainbow Donut shop at 3400 La Sierra Avenue.

The owner, Lee Ung, has been in business for 20 years and said he has never before sold a jackpot ticket. He gets an $80,000 bonus, and said some of it will go to pay for his son to attend UCLA.

“I was surprised when I heard about it this morning,” Ung told City News Service by phone. “I feel good about it.”

He said he has no idea who purchased the winning ticket, which must be redeemed in the next six months for the person to claim the $16 million.

Ung will receive one-half of one percent of the prize for being the merchant who sold the ticket, according to lottery officials. That translates to $80,000.

“After taxes, it’s a lot less, but it’s better than nothing,” Ung said, laughing.

He said he will use the funds for his children’s educational needs. “I have a son at UCLA,” the shopkeeper said.

The winning numbers were 10, 27, 38, 39, 46 and the Mega number, 10.

According to California Lottery spokesman Alex Traversol, if the ticket is not redeemed, the jackpot money goes into the lottery’s education fund, benefiting public schools statewide.
