Sunnylands reopens

Sunnylands estate in Rancho Mirage will reopen tothe public today after being closed for about two weeks for President BarackObama’s meeting with China’s president.

Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping met at Sunnylands June 7-8.Sunnylands will be open through June 30 and closed July and August. The estateopened to the public last year.

The estate was built in the 1960s for Ambassador Walter Annenberg andhis wife Leonore, with the goal of hosting retreats for the president andnational and world leaders.

The 25,000-square-foot midcentury modern home was designed by architectA. Quincy Jones and sits on landscaped grounds that include a golf course bydesigner Dick Wilson. The estate has hosted presidents, foreign heads of state,Supreme Court justices and celebrities.
