Neighbors wary of Ariz man accused in son’s death

Neighbors called 911 to report a Phoenix man’s odd behavior days before he allegedly killed his 13-year-old son with an ax.

Gary Reagan Sherrill is being held on a $1 million bond. He allegedly told police he believed his son was a demon and was going to eat him.

Officers went to the Sherill’s home on New Year’s Eve and discovered the boy dead after getting a call from the teen’s mother.

She says her ex-husband failed to return their son to her after picking him up a day earlier and she couldn’t reach them.

Police say the teen had stab wounds and lacerations to several parts of his body.

Police say they got a call Christmas night that Sherill reportedly was making threats, but responding officers couldn’t find him.
