Mosquito samples test positive for West Nile

The Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District reports 4 more mosquito samples have tested positive for West Nile Virus in the Mecca and North Shore areas.

The rainfall over the weekend left behind puddles in some areas which are perfect breeding grounds for the pests.

That brings the total number of positive tests to 8 for the summer.

Officials will be spraying protective treatments in the areas where the positive samples were found.
