Palm Springs teenager abducted and sexually assaulted
Palm Springs Police continue to search for clues in the abduction and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl from Palm Springs. Police say she was abducted and sexually assaulted after she left her home to go jogging Wednesday night.
The teenager’s family reported her missing around 9 p.m. They said she left the house three hours earlier and her disappearance was out of character.
Police said a citizen found her in a vacant lot on Ramon Road and South Cahuilla Road in Palm Springs at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The teen was conscious and she was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Officers spoke to her Thursday morning and determined she was abducted and sexually assaulted. Investigators only have the following suspect description: A man of an unknown race driving a pickup truck with dark tinted windows.
At the time she was reported missing, she was last seen near East Mel Avenue and Sunrise, which is just south of Vista Chino and west of the Sunrise Racquet Club.
Detectives are looking for help from the public to identify the suspect. Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the Palm Springs Police Department at 760-778-8411 or provide information anonymously at Valley Crime Stoppers 760-341-STOP (7867).
