Two arrested for multiple burglaries

Two men are in custody accused in multiple burglaries around La Quinta and Palm Desert.

Police say the burglaries happened between July and October of this year.

Officers say 24-year-old Eric Cunningham from La Quinta, and 26-year-old Joel Diaz from Cathedral City, allegedly used a blow torch to remove ATMs and safes from businesses.

The latest burglary happened Thursday just before five in the morning. Police say Cunningham allegedly robbed the Best Western on the 74-600 block of Highway 111 in Palm Desert.

He was actually staying at that hotel at the time.

Officers searched his room- and found items from burglaries around the Valley.
