Council moves to allow pot shops

Desert Hot Springs may be the latest city in the valley to legalize medical marijuana dispensaries.

Tuesday night, the city council approved two ordinances. One would allow dispensaries to open in the city. The other would allow the sale of recreational marijuana if pot is ever legalized for recreational use in California.

The council will vote to finalize the ordinances at a meeting on October 25th.

Desert Hot Springs is following the lead of Palm Springs and Cathedral City. Some are hoping that legalizing the shops in Desert Hot Springs will help raise revenues for the cash strapped city.
