Man dies after rolling car in Yucca Valley

A man died after crashing his car in Yucca Valley early Wednesday morning.

Officers with the California Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 2:45 a.m. on Highway 247 just north of La Brisa Drive in the Flamingo Heights Area.

The driver drifted onto the dirt shoulder of the road and overcorrected sharply to the left, sending his Chevrolet Malibu into a dirt embankment where it overturned. A witness was traveling southbound at the time and reported the crash.

CHP said the man wasn’t wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. The car ended up landing on the man and he died at the scene from his injuries.

The coroner’s office hasn’t released the man’s identity and the crash is under investigation. News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will deliver more details as soon as they’re available.
