Coachella man facing DUI charges after his truck allegedly struck a passenger

A Coachella man is in custody this morning accused of DUI.

Police say 25-year-old Spencer William Hayes also struck his passenger, who got out of the truck after arguing with Hayes.

The incident happened on Highway 111 at Dune Palms Road in north La Quinta around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police say the passenger jumped out of truck before it came to a complete stop and got struck as Hayes turned right.

The passenger declined any medical attention.

Hayes is being held on 35,000 bail and is due in court in Indio Tuesday morning.
