Palm Springs Police Department hosts open house

Palm Springs police are hosting an open house Saturday, and the public is invited to enjoy free food, peruse displays, watch demonstrations and try firsthand a use-of-force training simulator.

Officers, administrative staff and volunteers will host the event, scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the station, 200 S. Civic Drive, police Sgt. Jon Cabrera said.

Exhibits will include SWAT equipment, mountain search and rescue gear, a K-9 unit and police bicycles and motorcycles. The California Highway Patrol and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is participating.

The event will also feature children’s fingerprinting, pet adoptions and information about how to become a police officer or volunteer.

For more information, contact the Palm Springs Police Department at (760) 323-8116.
