Travel Alert: Some trouble spots reported on I-10 due to holiday traffic

Labor Day traffic caused some headaches for holiday travelers especially those headed in and out of the area near the Tex Wash Bridge near Desert Center.

According to Caltrans, at around 2:30 Monday afternoon they were reporting a 13-mile traffic jam on westbound Interstate 10 in Banning, beginning at 22nd Street. Officials say holiday travelers are causing the backup, with stop-and-go traffic stretching back to Palm Springs, most of that traffic cleared up around 5:00 p.m.

That was not the case near the Tex Wash Bridge, under construction near Desert Center. We got several calls of traffic back-up for miles most of Monday. Cal Trans warned that it would be slow going since there is only one lane of traffic open in both directions due to the construction zone.

Cal Trans says if you are planning on hitting the freeways tonight, you might want to give yourself some extra time to reach your destination.
