One person dead, driver arrested in a single-car rollover crash in Beaumont

Beaumont police responded to the scene of a deadly single-car rollover crash around 3 p.m. at Veile Avenue and 1st Street. One person was confirmed dead after being ejected from the vehicle.

A female passenger survived and wasn’t hurt.

The driver, 19-year-old Jacob Mason Knust, left the scene, according to police. Officers located Knust in the area, arrested him and booked him into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

Police are still looking into what caused the crash.

The name of the victim will be released when family has been notified.
