Bradley wins by KO in 9th round over Rios

Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley silenced his critics and detractors with a dominant knockout win over Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

The fight was Bradley’s first with new trainer Teddy Atlas after parting ways with longtime trainer Joel Diaz. Many questioned the move, but the new pairing looked like a winning combination in their first fight together.

Bradley came out aggressive yet smart, dictating the fight on their terms and leaving Brandon Rios searching for answers. Rios responded in the second and third rounds, trying to close the airspace between the two fighters, but Bradley cruised through the final five and a half rounds with effective jabs and devastating body shots.

Rios went down in the ninth round and had to use nearly the full 10 seconds to try and catch his breath before getting back to his feet. By then, Bradley smelled blood in the water and continued his attack to Rios’ body. Rios failed to defend himself, going down again and the fight was stopped by referee Tony Weeks.

It was Bradley’s first knockout win since 2011 when the “Desert Storm” defeated Joel Casamayor by TKO.
