Small plane overturns on runway in Thermal

Fortunately, the pilot of an airplane that overturned at the end of a runway at the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport in Thermal on Wednesday morning is doing okay.

We first heard about the incident just after 11 a.m. The plane is a 2004 Cessna 172-S single engine with four seats. The registered owner is Hanseo USA L.L.C. out of Lewes, Delaware, according to flight tracking.

Several emergency crews responded to the incident and closed one runway while they cleared the plane. Cal Fire officials said the pilot was taken to the administration building for medical clearance.

The last tracked flight of the Cessna was from Camarillo to Chino on Tuesday before Wednesday’s incident at the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport.

An investigation is underway to learn what caused the Cessna to overturn at the end of the runway. We’re working to get more details and we’ll have updates as soon as they’re available.
