Road reopened after bicyclist hit in Indio

UPDATE: 8:35 p.m.

Indio Police have reopened Avenue 44, as they continue to investigate a crash involving a bicyclist Saturday.

Officers responded just before 1:30 p.m. to the crash at the intersection of Avenue 44 and Apache Street.

When they arrived, officers found the bicyclist was crossing near the intersection, and was hit by a Chrysler Sebring heading eastbound on Avenue 44.

First responders took the 64-year-old man to a local hospital.

Officers said the man suffered moderate injuries.

Police said the driver of the car was cooperative, and no drugs or alcohol are suspected to have contributed to the crash.

Police have closed off a road in Indio after a bicyclist was hit Saturday afternoon.

Officers have closed Avenue 44 from Palo Verde Street to Golf Center Parkway.

The bicyclist’s condition is unknown at this time.
