Traffic signal construction project may cause delays in Palm Desert

Traffic signals at Highway 111 and Fred Waring Drive in Palm Desert will be in flashing-red-light-mode for much of Thursday as construction crews work at the busy intersection.

Workers will be installing new traffic signal poles as part of the free right lane construction project, according to the city’s news release. The project is expected to last from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Four-way stop signs will be in place to control the flow of traffic at the intersection, which shouldn’t be too much of a burden for most drivers, but city officials said all traffic will be temporarily stopped completely for up to 15 minutes while the new signal poles are being raised and put in place.

If you want to avoid potential traffic delays during the construction project, you’ll want to take an alternate route such as Country Club Drive, Bob Hope Drive, or Monterey Avenue.
