Local congressman Raul Ruiz in Puerto Rico assessing needs

Local congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz is touring different parts of Puerto Rico, seeing first-hand the destruction Hurricane Maria.

Dr. Ruiz is in Puerto Rico getting a first-hand humanitarian assessment of the needs on the ground in Puerto Rico so he can report back to Congress.

Ruiz worked alongside the 82nd airborne, serving as the Medial Director for J/P Haitian Relief Organization (JPHRO) and managed the medical needs for the largest internally displaced camp in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.

“The urgent need to help prevent a health catastrophe is clear. Recovery will take not months but years, and we must do everything we can to support our fellow Americans”, said Dr. Ruiz.

Dr. Ruiz will be in Puerto Rico until tomorrow.
