Woman rescued after falling 150ft while climbing in Joshua Tree National Park
A woman had to be rescued Saturday night after falling nearly 150 feet in a remote area of Joshua Tree National Park.
At around 6 p.m. the crew of Air Rescue 306 was requested by County Fire to assist with the rescue at Ryan Canyon.
Initial information received was a climber had fallen approximately 150 feet and was dangling from a rope.
As ground units arrived, they confirmed the subject was conscious, however, she was still suspended approximately 150 feet above ground level and inaccessible by rescuers.
The crew of Air Rescue 306 along with the crew of 40King8 responded to the area.
Crews were eventually able to hoist her from the scene.
The victim suffered moderate injuries and was flown to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The entire hoist rescue was performed in darkness with the use of night vision goggles.
