North Shore bridge collapses due to rain, truck pulled from ditch

A bridge spanning a waterway canal in North Shore collapsed due to rain Sunday night, according to Coachella Valley Water District Officials. A red pickup truck became trapped in the ditch following the collapse, and then had to be pulled from the expanse.

The North Shore bridge, located on the corner of Cleveland Street and 70th Avenue, became washed out and has now been cordoned off.

“The damage is extensive, I’ve never seen flash flood come through here and do that kind of damage,” Barrett Chamberlain, a local farmer, said.
