Coachella man taking donations of food & clothes for Sinaloa flood victims
Over 3,000 people are continuing to seek refuge at temporary shelters two weeks after floods ravaged the Mexican state of Sinaloa off the Gulf of California. The tropical storm dumped as much as 36 centimeters of rain in just 24 hours.
Bernardo Barraza, a Coachella reside who has family in the flood-stricken area, is stepping up to help after seeing videos circulating on social media.
“I felt bad because a lot of time we take things for granted, or we have extras. Things we don’t need that we don’t use that have been sitting in our house for some time that we say we will use later and I thought why not gather those little things and help these people in need,” Barraza said.
If you want to donate to help those affected, you can reach Barraza by calling him at 909-319-4495. You can also drop off items at his house located at 49070 Pluma Blanca Pl in Coachella. He will be accepting donations until Thursday and he asks that you donate shoes and clothes, not cash.
