Desert Hot Springs man charged with attempted homicide for shooting
A Desert Hot Springs man was arrested Friday and charged with attempted homicide in connection with an August shooting.
On Friday at 10 a.m., Desert Hot Springs Police assisted the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force in arresting “documented criminal street gang member” 20-year-old Richard Alex Bernal without incident near the 66000 block of Acoma Avenue of Desert Hot Springs.

The attempted homicide occurred on August 15, police say a male adult victim suffered four gunshot wounds.
After the arrest, a search warrant was executed at Bernal’s residence and evidence related to the attempted homicide was seized. Bernal was charged with Attempted Homicide and booked at Larry Smith Detention Center.
