Cathedral City 7-11 closed due to fire

A small fire at the 7-11 near the intersection of Ramon Rad and Crossley Road in Cathedral City has led to the store’s closure, The fire was extinguished shortly after emergency responders’ arrival on the scene.

The fire, located within the ceiling of the building, was reported at 9:30 a.m. Cathedral City fire was still on the scene as of 10:05 a.m. The fire caused an estimated $10,000 in damage.

It is unclear at this time when the store will reopen.

Cathedral City Police worked in cooperation with the Cathedral City Fire Department to determine that the air conditioning unit was the cause of the blaze.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
