Coachella Valley Housing Coalition celebrates 2,000th home
The Coachella Valley Housing Coalition is celebrating an important milestone by unveiling its 2000th single family home.

Since its creation in 1982, the coalition has expanded throughout the Riverside and Imperial counties. The program allows people earning low wages to become homeowners and also helps them with other resources such as registering to vote and fixing credit.
Tonight’s event in Indio included food, a mariachi band, and the reveal of their newly constructed home with the help of the community.

“It’s a lot of people behind from the office to the supervisors. It’s not just us. It’s a group working together,” said Marielle Herrera, the recipient of the 2,000th home.
The organization is also hoping Proposition 1 passes which would give $4 billion toward housing for low wage earners in the valley.
