Sting’s Rancho Mirage concert indefinitely postponed due to illness

A Friday night Sting concert slated for the Agua Caliente Casino Resort and Spa has been canceled due to unspecified, ongoing medical issues, the singer’s representatives announced today.

The British singer-songwriter released a statement Thursday afternoon stating that both Friday night’s Rancho Mirage show and a Saturday night Las Vegas performance were canceled.

The performer also canceled recent shows in San Francisco, Santa Barbara and Phoenix, and stated only that he was “unfortunately ill and unable to perform.”

Thursday’s statement said “Sting had hoped to recuperate in time for these shows, but has just been advised by his doctor not to perform.”

Fans who bought tickets for Friday night’s concert were “encouraged to hold onto their tickets as we hope to reschedule these concerts and will provide updates as they become available.”

A Monday show at the Wiltern in Los Angeles remains set to go forward.

The Rancho Mirage show was part of Sting and Shaggy’s 44/876 tour, featuring performances from the artists’ collaborative album released earlier this year.
